Course dates

We look forward to welcoming you to Suèvres. Here are the dates for the 2019 season, but all weeks are now fully booked except Week 5 (24th August) when we still have places available.

Week 1: (Note 1) Sat 27 Apr to Fri 03 May 2019
Week 2: (Note 2) Thu 11 July to Wed 17 Jul 2019
Week 3: Sat 20 July to Fri 26 July 2019
Week 4: Sat 17 Aug to Fri 23 Aug 2019
Week 5: Sat 24 Aug to Fri 30 Aug 2019

Note 1:
We will be running our usual IF course for those who prefer a springtime course, alongside a specialist Open University L310 course for any interested students who prefer springtime courses.

The specialist preparation course for the Open University module L310 (see the L310 page via the link on the left) will run alongside the normal course. If you are not an Open University student but are of an advanced level and want a challenging course, we would be willing to consider you for the L310 element of this week.

Note 2:
This week only we are commencing on a Wednesday to accommodate the 14 juillet festivities. The week includes both a traditional street party, accompanied by piano accordion on Saturday 13th July and, on Saturday the 14th, to celebrate the fête nationale, the traditional 14 juillet celebrations. On this day, we enter into the very heart of village life, with a vin dhonneur offered by the mayor, a repas communal on the village green, torchlight procession round the village, fireworks and, if you have any energy left, dancing till the early hours at the bal populaire.

Course price

Despite the post-Brexit fall in the value of sterling, we are keeping the cost of a week’s course the same as last year, £840. Please note that this price includes all food and drink, accommodation and excursions. You will not have to pay for anything beyond your travel to and from Suèvres and coffees and drinks in the local bar.

Included in the price:

   •    Accommodation - 6 Nights with your host family.

   •    All your meals, including: daily breakfast and dinner with your hosts (except on the first night when you will have dinner with us in the garden of 10, rue St Martin, and the last night when we eat out in a local restaurant) as well as working lunches which are usually in the garden of our house in rue St Martin.

   •    Tutoring - 6 days intensive tutoring + course materials (loose-leaf ring-binder, teaching handouts and notes, all stationery).

   •    Two excursions - trips to nearby places of interest such as the Château de Chambord or the Château de Blois and the town of Blois itself (see the link on the left for more information).

   •    Collection by car, from and to Mer railway station.

If you wish to do the optional French Cookery course there will be an additional fee of 40 euros.
